Royals Beat Twins to Salvage Final Game of the Series

Kansas City beat the Twins 6-4 in K.C. Sunday to salvage the final game of the 3-game series. Esmerling Vazquez made his first major league start and allowed 7 hits and 5 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 0-1. Chris Parmelee was 2-4 with a solo homerun, Joe Mauer was 3-4 and Alexi Casilla went 2-4 with 2 RBIs for the Twins.

Twins Sweep Doubleheader In Kansas City

The Twins swept a doubleheader in Kansas City Saturday after having their game rained out on Friday night. Minnesota won game 1 3-1 before winning game 2 8-7. In game one Cole DeVries threw 6 2/3 innings with 7 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win and improve to 4-5. Justin Morneau was 1-2 with 2 RBIs, Jamey Carroll had 3 hits and Chris Parmelee chipped in 2 hits.

Mariners Edge Twins 5-4

The Twins lost 5-4 at home against Seattle Thursday in the final game of a 4-game series. Josh Willingham's dropped ball in the 6th inning led to 4 Seattle runs and may have cost the Twins the game. Willingham did hit a 2-run homerun later in the game. Alexi Casilla was 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Brian Duensing threw 5 1/3 innings with 4 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 3-10.

Twins, Deduno Blank Mariners 10-0

The Twins blanked the Seattle Mariners 10-0 at Target Field Wednesday night. Sam Deduno threw 7 shutout innings with just 2 hits allowed to get the win and improve to 5-2. Deduno struckout a career high 9 and allowed no walks. Trevor Plouffe was 2-4 with a 2-run homerun and 4 RBIs, Josh Willingham was 2-3 with a solo homerun and 2 RBIs and Joe Mauer was 3-5 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Plouffe's homerun was his 20th this year while Willingham hit his 32nd.

It’s Official: Target Field Gets the 2014 All Star Game

Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig made official what we all knew on Wednesday, Target Field is getting the 2014 MLB All Star Game. Selig said Minnesota is an easy choice and that the 6-day event will be great for the entire Twin Cities Metro area. The Twins last hosted the All Star game at the Metrodome in 1985 and hosting the All Star Game at Met Stadium in 1965.

Twins Outright Gray; Callup Parmelee

The Twins have outrighted relief pitcher Jeff Gray to triple-A Rochester after he passed through waivers and have called up first baseman Chris Parmelee. Gray has a 5.71 ERA in 52 innings for the Twins this season while Parmelee is batting .338 with 17 homeruns and 49 RBIs in 64 games at triple-A Rochester this season.

Twins Place Mauer on Trade Waivers

The Twins have placed catcher Joe Mauer on trade waivers and American League teams have until noon today to claim him. If he is unclaimed National League teams will have an opportunity to claim him. If Mauer goes unclaimed the Twins could trade him to anyone. If he is claimed the Twins can work out a trade with the team that claimed him, pull him back and not trade him the rest of the season or let him go to the team that claimed him.

The major announcement is expected to be that Target Field will host the Major League Baseball All Star Game in 2014. Seattle Tops Twins, Diamond 5-2

The Twins lost 5-2 at home to Seattle Tuesday night. Hisashi Iwakuma threw 6 innings with 1 hit and 1 run allowed (0 earned) to get the win. Scott Diamond threw 7 innings with 7 hits and 5 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 10-6. Dustin Ackley hit a 3-run homerun for the Mariners. Ryan Doumit had a RBI double and both Josh Willingham and Jamey Carroll were each 1-3 with a run scored for the Twins.

The Major League Baseball All Star game appears headed for Target Field in 2014. An official announcement is expected later this week. Numerous reports indicate that Target Field is the likely pick for the All Star game and the All Star festivities which include the Homerun Derby. Twins owner Jim Pohlad says he believes an announcement is imminent.
