The Timberwolves announced Tuesday that they will introduce newly signed free agent center Greg Stiemsma at a press conference Thursday at 1pm at Target Center. Stiemsma is 6'11 260 pounds and is 26 years old. He averaged 2.9 points and 3.2 rebounds a game with Boston in 2011-2012.

The Timberwolves introduced shooting guard Brandon Roy at a press conference today at Target Center. The 28-year old Roy is coming out of retirement after missing all of last season with chronic knee problems. He played 5 seasons in Portland and the 6'6 guard averaged 19 points a game.

The Timberwolves plan to introduce shooting guard Brandon Roy at a press conference Tuesday at 1:00 at Target Center. The 6'6 guard is coming out of retirement and has agreed to a 2-year contract with the Wolves. Roy averaged 14 points in game in his final season in the NBA with Portland before retiring with chronic knee problems.

The Timberwolves have agreed to a 3-team trade that will send forward Wes Johnson to Phoenix along with a first round draft pick. New Orleans will get center Robin Lopez and Hakim Warrick from Phoenix. The Wolves get guard Jerome Dyson and center Brad Miller's expiring contract and 2 2nd round picks from New Orleans.

The Timberwolves officially signed 6'6 guard Alexey Shved to a 3-year contract. He is 23 years old and has been playing pro in Russia. The Wolves have also traded guard Wayne Ellington to Memphis for forward Dante Cunningham.

The Timberwolves have reached a contract agreement with 6'11 restricted free agent center Greg Stiemsma. The Boston Celtics are not expected to match the offer because they are salary cap strapped. Stiemsma averaged 2.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 55 games for the Celtics in 2011-2012. Stiemsma is expected to be the backup center to Nikola Pekovic this season for the Wolves.

The Timbewolves won a summer league game against Cleveland 78-65 in Las Vegas Thursday night. Derrick Williams led the Wolves with 23 points, Coby Karl added 18 points and Robbie Hummel chipped in 2 points. The Wolves are 2-1 in summer league games and will play the NBA D-League Select team this Sunday.

Portland Matches Batum Offer; Time For Plan B

The Timberwolves will not have Nicolas Batum playing for them this season. Portland matched the 4-year $46 Million offer sheet the Wolves signed restricted free agent Batum to. The Wolves tried to workout a sign and trade deal last week with Portland but no deal could be struck. Batum is a 23-year old 6'8 small forward who averaged 13.9 points a game with the Blazers in 2011-2012.

The Timberwolves lost 81-78 to Charlotte in Las Vegas in the summer league. Wes Johnson led the Wolves for a 2nd straight game with 24 points and Derrick Williams added 17 points for Minnesota. 2nd round pick Robbie Hummel scored 6 points off the bench.

The Timberwolves won a summer league game in Las Vegas against the Los Angeles Clippers 73-64 Monday night. Wes Johnson led the Wolves with 16 points and Derrick Williams added 15 points for Minnesota. 2nd round pick Robbie Hummel added 6 points off the bench for the Wolves.
