Receiver Percy Harvin and defensive tackle Letroy Guion both missed practice Wednesday. Harvin is out with an ankle injury. He considered himself a "long shot" to play on Monday after spraining his left ankle in 3 spots against Seattle. The Vikings are holding out hope that Harvin can play against the Lions.

Guion aggravated his right knee injury in practice on Tuesday and was seen with his knee wrapped in a while compression sleeve on Wednesday at practice. Guion was signed to a contract extension in the offseason and the team hoped he would demand a double team and allow for the Vikings to improve their defense against the run.

Viking linebacker Chad Greenway says the mistakes made are correctable and one preseason game isn't an indication of how the season will go. The Vikings were the best team against the run in the NFL from 2006-2008. Pat Williams anchored the defensive line during those seasons and has since retired.
