Twins Trade Slowey To Rockies; Offer Deal To Cuddyer

The Twins have reportedly traded starting pitcher Kevin Slowey to the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named later. The Twins had been interested in backup outfielder Seth Smith with the Rockies but it's unclear whether he'd be involved in the deal. Slowey was 0-8 in 8 starts in 2011 but 29-39 with a 4.66 ERA in his career.

The Twins have placed righthanded starting pitcher Scott Baker on the 15-day disabled list with a right flexor injury in his right elbow. Baker was placed on the DL with a right elbow injury before the All Star break. He is 8-6 with a 3.21 ERA this season. The Twins are calling up righthander Kevin Slowey to take Baker's spot in the rotation.

The Twins blanked the Florida Marlins 9-0 Monday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida. Kevin Slowey threw 4 shutout innings and Danny Valencia and Luke Hughes each had homeruns and drove in 2 runs. Jason Kubel went 2-3 with 1 RBI and Ben Revere went 1-5 with 2 RBIs.
