Former SCSU Baseball Player Gets Honor
Former St. Cloud State baseball player Jordan Smith has been named the minor league player of the week in the Cleveland Indiana organization for the 2nd time this season. He batted .571 with a homerun and 8 RBIs at single-A Lake County in the Indians organization. He is batting .322 with 5 homeruns and 44 RBIs at Lake County this season as an outfielder. He played 3rd base at St. Cloud State.
SCSU’s Smith Signs With Cleveland
St. Cloud State 3rd baseman and Willmar native Jordan Smith has signed a professional contract with the Cleveland Indians reportedly for $125,000. He was selected in the 9th round by Cleveland early this month in the Major League Baseball entry draft. Smith batted .382 with 7 homeruns and 57 RBIs for SCSU in 2011.

St. Cloud State third baseman Jordan Smith was drafted in the 9th round (278th overall) by the Cleveland Indians in the Major League baseball entry level draft. Smith was hoping to be drafted by the Minnesota Twins but is happy to be picked by Cleveland.
