Twins' catcher Joe Mauer spoke to the media Monday afternoon and says pneumonia caused the premature end to his season. He insisted that the illness was too much for him to play with and he would have if he could have. Mauer played just 82 games this season and hit .287 with 3 homeruns and 30 RBIs.

The Tigers edged the Twins 3-2 Saturday afternoon in Detroit. Brandon Inge hit a solo walkoff homerun against Glen Perkins to win the game in the 9th.
