The Johnnies are coached by Jerry Haugen who's in his 35th year as head coach. Haugen has led the Johnnies to NCAA tournament appearances in 1994 and 1998 and sent the Johnnies to the MIAC tournament in 2003, 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

In game 1 Connor Cline was 3-4 with 1 RBI and Max Foster drove in a pair of runs for the Johnnies. Connor Cline threw 6 innings with 6 hits and 2 earned runs to get the win. St. John's head coach Jerry Haugen reaches win #650 in his career.
