The Twins have outrighted relief pitcher Jeff Gray to triple-A Rochester after he passed through waivers and have called up first baseman Chris Parmelee. Gray has a 5.71 ERA in 52 innings for the Twins this season while Parmelee is batting .338 with 17 homeruns and 49 RBIs in 64 games at triple-A Rochester this season.

The Twins defeated the Tigers 8-6 Tuesday night to win their 5th straight game. The Twins scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning before Detroit tied the game with 3 runs in the 4th. Minnesota broke the tie with a sacrifice fly from Ryan Doumit in the 7th inning. Joe Mauer added a solo homerun in the 9th. Mauer was 3-5 with 3 runs scored, Josh Willingham was 2-3 with a homerun and 3 RBIs and Trevor Plouffe added a 2-run homerun.

The Twins claimed two pitchers off waivers Monday. The two players are 27-year old lefthander Matt Maloney from Cincinnati and 29-year old righthander Jeff Gray from Seattle. Maloney was 0-3 with a 9.16 ERA in 8 appearances for the Reds. Gray was 0-1 with a 4.89 ERA with Seattle.
