Derrick Williams

The Timberwolves signed their first and 2nd round picks yesterday to multi-year contracts. Derrick Williams was the 2nd overall pick in the first round in June. The 6'8 240 forward is expected to primarily play small forward for the Wolves. He averaged 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds a game playing at Arizona last season.

The Timberwolves dramatically improved their team this week with the official signing of point guard Ricky Rubio and the drafting of forward Derrick Williams Thursday night. Rubio may not help as much as we hope but his court vision and unselfish nature can only help any team. Williams is considered by many to be a tweener.

The Timberwolves got the #2 pick in the NBA draft lottery Tuesday night. The event was held in Secaucus, New Jersey. The Wolves had the best odds of any team to get the #2 pick but Cleveland got it instead. Minnesota has dropped from the position they should have been drafting 8 times and have never improved their position.
