The Vikings lost 12-10 in their 3rd preseason game to the San Diego Chargers Friday night. The Chargers sat 18 players including starting quarterback Philip Rivers and top tight end Antonio Gates. San Diego made 4 field goals including Nick Novak's 45-yard game-winner as time expired to win the game.
Vikings Host San Diego In Dress Rehearsal
The Vikings host the San Diego Chargers in what's considered a dress rehearsal for the regular season. The starters are expected to play into the 3rd quarter including quarterback Christian Ponder. Head coach Leslie Frazier says he'll limit the touches for running back Toby Gerhart because he'll be needed when the regular season starts against Jacksonville.
Vikings Rout Bills to Win Preseason Game
The Vikings routed the Buffalo Bills 36-14 Friday night at Mall of America Field. Christian Ponder was 10-13 passing for 136 yards and 1 touchdown with no interceptions. His one touchdown pass was to Jerome Felton from 1-yard out. Emanuel Arceneaux had 2 catches for 50 yards and Jerome Simpson had 3 catches for 43 yards for Minnesota. Rookie Audie Cole had 2 interception return touchdowns in the 2nd half.
Vikings Host Bills Tonight In 2nd Preseason Game
The Vikings will host Buffalo tonight in their 2nd preseason game at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:00. The Vikings are expected to play their starters into the 2nd quarter including Percy Harvin, Jared Allen, Antoine Winfield and Kevin Williams. None of the before mentioned players played at San Francisco last Friday. The Vikings lost to the 49ers 17-6 on August 10.
Vikings Break Camp In Mankato; Host Bills Friday
The Vikings broke camp in Mankato Wednesday and will host Buffalo Friday night in their 2nd preseason game at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:00. The Vikings were at camp in Mankato since July 26 and will now resume training camp activities at their Winter Park facility in Eden Prairie.
49ers Beats Vikings 17-6 In Preseason Opener
The Vikings lost 17-6 in their preseason opener Friday night. Christian Ponder engineered both scoring drives that led to two field goals in the first quarter from rookie Blair Walsh. Ponder was 4-10 passing for 80 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Joe Webb was less impressive passing throwing for just 20 yards on 4-11 passing. McLeod Bethel-Thompson was the 3rd quarterback and he was 3-7 passing for 49 yards in the 4th quarter.

The Vikings begin the preseason schedule at San Francisco tonight at 8pm (Central Time). The game will be televised on the CW network. The Vikings are expected to play their starters the first quarter including quarterback Christian Ponder. Toby Gerhart will start at running back with Adrian Peterson staying in Minnesota recovering from left knee surgery.
Ten Players Key The Vikings Fate in 2012
I believe the Vikings have 10 ten players that will determine whether they win 4 games or up to 8 games in 2012. 10) RT, Phil Loadholt - The right tackle allowed more sacks than anyone on the Viking roster in 2012 and needs to improve his pass blocking or Christian Ponder is going to get killed. The Vikings will likely keep the tight end in to help Loadholt but that limit's Ponder passing options.
Vikings Start OTA At Winter Park
The Minnesota Vikings began organized team activities at Winter Park in Eden Prairie Wednesday. Starting quarterback Christian Ponder attended the event all with the newly drafted rookies and free agent signees and some veterans. Among the free agents trying to make the team are receiver Marcus Fitzgerald, the younger brother of Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. Marcus Fitzgerald playing college football at Marshall University.

Ponder Passes Concussion Test; Will Start
Viking quarterback Christian Ponder passed his concussion tests Wednesday and practiced in full and is expected to start at quarterback for the Vikings Sunday against Chicago. Ponder suffered a concussion and was removed from the game Saturday at Washington. He said he experienced a headache Saturday night but felt fine Sunday and Monday was cleared to practice Wednesday.
