The Twins began spring training workouts in Fort Myers, Florida with pitchers and catchers on Sunday. Pitchers and catchers needed to report on Saturday and began workouts on Sunday. The Twins lost their 4th straight game 4-0 in Kansas City Tuesday night. Bruce Chen threw 8 shutout innings with 2 hits allowed and 8 strikeouts to get the win. Chen gets the win and improves to 11-7. Carl Pavano allowed 11 hits and 3 earned runs in 7 innings to take the loss for the Twins. He drops to 8-12. Minnesota managed just 3 hits for the game.

The Twins begin a 2-game series at Kansas City tonight after getting the day off Monday. Righthander Carl Pavano (8-11) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Bruce Chen (10-7) toes the rubber for the Royals. Minnesota is 59-87 and is 2 games back of the Royals for 4th place in the American League Central.

The Twins lost 6-2 to the Detroit Tigers Thursday night in the first game of a 4-game series. Justin Verlander silenced the Twins throwing 8 innings with 5 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win and improve to 13-5. Verlander had 9 strikeouts for the Tigers. Carl Pavano allowed 9 hits and 5 earned runs in 6 innings to take the loss and drop to 6-7. Joe Mauer and Michael Cuddyer were each 2-4 for the Twins with Cuddyer driving in 1 run.

The Twins scored earlyand often Thursday night to beat the Chicago White Sox 6-2. Minnesota scored 1 run in the first inning, 2 in the 2nd inning and 3 in the 4th. Ben Revere led the Twins at the plate going 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs and Joe Mauer had 3 hits and 2 RBI playing 1st base for the first time in his major league career. Carl Pavano threw 6 innings with 2 hits allowed to get the win and improve to 6-6.
