The Vikings practiced without running back Adrian Peterson, safety Harrison Smith, cornerback Antoine Winfield, and linebacker/special teammer Tyron McKenzie.
The Vikings will play the remainder of the season without cornerback Antoine Winfield. Viking head coach Leslie Frazier confirmed Tuesday that Winfield broke his clavicle (collar bone) Monday night in the loss at Green Bay. Frazier says Winfield will have surgery Thursday. Winfield has missed 4 straight games with neck injury prior to returning to Monday night's game at Green Bay.
The Vikings had 3 players miss practice Wednesday with injuries. Cornerback Antoine Winfield (neck), center John Sullivan (ankle) and punter Chris Kluwe (hamstring) all missed practice Wednesday. The following players were limited in practice Wednesday; safety Husain Abdullah (pelvis), linebacker E.J. Henderson (knee), tackle Charlie Johnson (elbow), and safety Jamarca Sanford (knee).
The Vikings hired James Saxon as their running back coach Monday. Saxon has been an assistant coach in the NFL for the past 11 seasons including the last 3 with the Miami Dolphins as their running backs coach. Viking veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield is going back to the Pro Bowl.
