ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud State outshot Western Michigan 33-19 but only scored once, falling against the Broncos 2-1 on Saturday night.

Sophomore forward Kalle Kossila scored the Huskies lone goal in the first period, making it a 1-1 tie.

Controversy developed late in the third period when St. Cloud State was down 2-1. With a delayed penalty coming the Huskies poked a goal into the Broncos net, however the play was blown dead and the goal was called off.

Loud boos filled the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center when a replay showed the puck going into the net on the big screen.

When time expired many frustrated fans threw empty bottles and pizza boxes on the ice.

Head Coach Bob Motzko was also visibly upset, confronting and yelling at the refs on the ice after the game.

The Huskies fall to 12-4-4 overall and 7-3-2 in the NCHC. They continue their season next week with a big road game against the University of Minnesota in the North Star College Cup tournament. Game time is set for 7:07 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.
