WAITE PARK -- Family, friends and fans of St. Cloud's own Alise Post piled into Marcus Parkwood Cinema on Wednesday to watch her hit the track at the Rio Olympics.

The theater was completely full for the viewing party. Many young women in attendance, like Amber, credit Post with inspiring them to join BMX.

"Alise was basically the reason I kept going, she made me think I could do BMX as a girl. So she's kind of an idol honestly."

David and Michelle were in the crowd and were excited to cheer on with their Alise Post t-shirts ready.

"We're just so proud of her and so excited. We know she's going to win and we go out to the BMX track all the time."

During time trials Post recorded a time of 35.509 seconds, which was good to capture the 8th best time. She finished right behind fellow American Brooke Crain.

Post will compete in the Semifinals scheduled on Friday. Marcus Parkwood Cinema will be holding another viewing party. The doors will open at 11:00 a.m. for the 11:30 a.m. semifinals and 1:00 p.m. finals.

The viewing party is free to attend and open to everyone.

Post is competing in her second Olympic games. She’s looking for her first medal.

Post is a 2009 graduate of St. Cloud Tech high school.
