ST. CLOUD - The next step in bringing regular alcohol sales to St. Cloud State University hockey games will happen tonight (Monday). The city council is expected to approve a resolution for a special law authorizing wine and 3.2 beer licenses at SCSU.

The city has to approve the special law before they can issue any licenses. It would allow wine and strong beer sales at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, and the adjacent facilities.

Several other Minnesota State universities offer beer at their venues, including: Duluth, Mankato, and Bemidji.

Beer was sold at two SCSU hockey games last season under a temporary license as a test.

Each year SCSU will provide the police department with a list of all athletic events where beer was sold.

The annual wine license fee is $500, and the annual beer license fee is $300.
