ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams each notched wins over Upper Iowa on Saturday.

MEN'S - HUSKIES CONTINUE HOT STREAK IN WIN

The Huskies won their fourth game in a row, and sixth in the past seven games, after Saturday's 91-82 victory over Upper Iowa.

Upper Iowa actually held a slim halftime lead, but the Huskies finished strong - outscoring them 54-43 the rest of the way.

Jordan Poydras again led the Huskies, scoring a game-high 31 points shooting at a very efficient 11-of-17 clip.

Scottie Stone scored 17 points for SCSU and James Fort added 19 off the bench to complement Poydras in the victory.

The Huskies actually left 10 points on the floor - missing 37 percent of their free throws, but SCSU made up for it from beyond the three-point arc - hitting 10-of-21 attempts.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 15-9 on the season and will take on Northern State on Friday.

WOMEN'S - HUSKIES WIN IN DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER

All five Huskies starters finished in double figures as SCSU outlasts Upper Iowa 112-104 in double overtime on Saturday.

The score was close all game as neither team could get separation until the second overtime period when the Huskies finally put Upper Iowa away.

Karissa LeCaptain notched a double-double, scoring 24 points and nabbing 13 rebounds to lead the Huskies.

Carley Jeffery was on fire, particularly from three-point range, as the senior finished with 24 points.

Betsy McDonald and Chelsea Nooker scored 17 and 16 points respectively and Nichole Wittman added 12 points in the win.

The Huskies improve to 13-9 on the season and will look to build on the impressive victory when they play host to Northern State on Friday.
