ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams saw their recent trends - good or bad - continue on Friday against the Winona State Warriors.

SCSU MEN CONTINUE HOT STREAK AGAINST WSU

Strong defense and timely scoring led the Huskies men's basketball team to a 65-56 win over Winona State on Friday.

The Huskies forced 20 turnovers and held the Warriors to under 40 percent shooting for the game.

SCSU was led by Scottie Stone who scored 18 points and Jordan Poydras added 17 in the victory.

The win is the Huskies' third in a row and seventh in their past nine games. SCSU will host Upper Iowa tonight at Halenbeck Hall.

SCSU WOMEN EDGED BY WINONA STATE

The Huskies women's basketball team have lost five of their past seven games after Friday's downer against the Winona State Warriors.

The Huskies got off to a slow start and fell behind by nine at the half before mounting a comeback that came up just short.

Betsy McDonald led the Huskies with 16 points, finishing 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc.

Carley Jeffery and Chelsea Nooker each finished with 10 points and Nooker also pulled down seven rebounds in the loss.

With the defeat, the Huskies fall to 12-9 on the season and they will play host to Upper Iowa tonight.
