The SCSU baseball team is one step closer to the DII College World Series after a 2-1 win over Southern Arkansas late Saturday night in Mankato. The Huskies are now 2-0 in the regional tournament.

SCSU pitcher Kyle Fischer spun a gem on the mound in a complete game effort. The righty struck out ten Muleriders and allowed only a single (unearned) run.

Cathedral grad Phil Imholte had the winning hit for SCSU in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring Brandon Arnold.

The Huskies will take on bitter rival Minnesota State-Mankato Saturday at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato.
