Saturday: Schleper Notches Assist In Team USA Win

The USA women’s hockey team defeated Finland 3-1 this morning in their opening game. Cathedral graduate Anne Schleper ended the game with one assist and a +2 rating.

The United States took a 3-0 lead into the third period thanks to goals from Hilary Knight, Kelli Stack and Alex Carpenter. Schleper’s assist came  on Carpenter’s goal at 15:59 of the second period.

Finland scored at 15:22 of the third period on a power play to spoil USA goalie Jessie Vetter’s shutout attempt. Vetter finished with 14 saves on 15 shots.
