Joe Sakic made a career out of exploiting the five-hole.

Now, the former NHL superstar is flaunting his precision on the links.

Sakic stole the show at the American Century Celebrity Gold Championship on Sunday after sniping a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, netting the 13-time All-Star $1 million for his efforts.

The sharp-shooting center, who potted 625 goals and collected 1,641 points during a 20-year NHL career with the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalanche, said he couldn’t believe his eyes when he caught a pair of bounces before sinking the ace.

“That’s a shot you never imagine hitting,” said Sakic. “I’ve never even been close before.”

Sakic, a former MVP and two-time Stanley Cup champion, was awarded the $1 million prize consistent with a three-year tradition at Lake Tahoe for hole-in-one shots. Half the money is expected to go to Sakic, with the rest being donated to Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation.
