The Rocori Spartans lost to the St. Cloud Tech Tigers Saturday afternoon 34-20 from Husky Stadium. The loss drops the Spartans to 1-3 on the season and ups the Tigers record to 3-0.

The Spartans opened the scoring with 5:17 left in the first quarter after a four yard touchdown pass from Tim Hansen to Luke Asfeld to take a 6-0 lead. Phil Amundson of the Tigers then returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to give St. Cloud Tech a 7-6 lead. Tim Hansen then connected with Alex Budde for a 67 yard touchdown to put the Spartans back on top 12-7. The score would stay 12-7 at halftime.

In the third quarter the Spartans increased their lead to 20-7 thanks to a one yard run from quarterback Tim Hansen and a successful two point conversion. The Tigers came storming back with two scores in the third quarter. The first touchdown was a 50 yard touchdown run by Josh Schaefer and brought the score to 20-13 in favor of the Spartans. With 40 seconds remaining in the third quarter Jay Kedrowski scored on a one yard touchdown and after the extra point the game was knotted at 20.

In the fourth quarter Jay Kedrowski connected with Jake Martig for a 30 yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 27-20 lead after a successful extra point. The Tigers went into ball control mode for most of the remainder of the fourth quarter and the Spartans were unable to sustain a late drive to tie the game. The Tigers added another score with 1:12 left in the game thanks to a four yard touchdown run from Austin Klaverkamp to put the game out of reach and make the score 34-20.
