River Bats Begin 2011 Season Tonight

The St. Cloud River Bats embark on their 15th season in franchise history tonight when they play at Duluth against the Huskies at 7:05pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 6:35.  River Bats owner/President Joel Sutherland said Tuesday they had 13 players here and expects the roster to be at 17 when they take the field tonight.  Sutherland says they enough players at each position and doesn’t forsee needing to play players out of position to begin the season.  In past seasons the River Bats and other Northwoods League teams had to play players out of position on occasion.  The Bats will host Duluth Friday in their home opener at 7:05.  Former Twin Gary Gaetti will be their special guest and will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
