Red Sox Sneak Past Twins In Ten Innings

Pedro Florimon's two-run home run in the third inning was all the offense the Twins could muster against Clay Buchholz and the Red Sox in a 3-2, extra innings loss Friday.

The Red Sox took a 1-0 lead in the first with David Oritz's RBI single to right field off of Twins starter Vance Worley.

Florimon's blast off Buchholz gave the Twins a 2-1 lead in the third inning, but the bullpen blew Worley's best start to date. The struggling righty allowed no earned runs on six hits and three walks in six innings.

Brian Duensing came on in relief in the seventh inning and walked leadoff hitter Jonny Gomes. After getting a strikeout, Duensing gave up back-to-back singles to allow Boston to tie the game.

The Red Sox took the lead in the top of the tenth on a sacrifice fly by Gomes, making the score 3-2. The Twins went down in order in the bottom of the tenth inning.

The Twins and Sox will play again Saturday night at 6:10, weather permitting.
