The Gophers lost 79-76 at home against Penn State Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at Williams Arena.  D.J. Newbill made a contested 25-foot jumper from the top of the key as time expired to win the game.  Newbill finished with 31 points.  Minnesota trailed by 9 at halftime and by as many as 13 in the 2nd half.

Senior Maurice Walker scored a career high 26 points with 11 rebounds, Joey King added 19 points and Andre Hollins chipped in 13.  The Gophers honored seniors Elliott Eliason, Maurice Walker, Andre Hollins, DeAndre Mathieu and Kendal Shell.

The Gophers are 6-12 in the Big Ten and 17-14 overall and are seeded 11th in the Big Ten tournament.  Minnesota will play 14th seeded Rutgers at 6pm Wednesday night in Chicago, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:30.
