Morneau Has Neck Surgery, Span Makes Progress

The Twins got some good news on first baseman Justin Morneau.  He had successful neck surgery to relieve a pinched nerve and expects to rejoin the team in August.  Outfielder Denard Span will travel with the Twins to Chicago this week as he recovers from a concussion.  No timetable for Spans return yet.

Jason Kubel was re-evaluated by doctors Tuesday after flying to the Twin Cities to look as his sprained foot.  Kubel is on the disabled list and won't return until after the All Star break.  Delmon Young continues to recover from a sprained ankle as he rehabs at triple-A Rochester.

Young was 2-4 with a 2-run homerun in the first game of a doubleheader for triple-A Rochester Tuesday.  Young was 0-3 in the 2nd game.
