The Twins are optimistic that catcher Joe Mauer will be activated from the disabled list this week during their current homestand.  Mauer has been on the disabled list since mid-April with leg weakness but has been rehabbing at Class A Fort Myers.  Mauer has caught back to back games and Manager Ron Gardenhire wants Mauer to take part in live batting practice on Wednesday.  The likely return of Mauer this week could come Thursday against Chicago or Friday against San Diego.  The Twins could also get centerfielder Denard Span, 2nd baseman Tusyoshi Nishioka, righthander Jason Kubel, designated hitter Jim Thome, and relief pitchers Joe Nathan and Glen Perkins back from the disabled list within the next 10 days.
