SAUK RAPIDS -- The Granite City Lumberjacks lost to the Alexandria Blizzard by a score of 5-2 on Friday.

Granite City actually got on the scoreboard first, with a second period goal by Adam Marty to give the Lumberjacks a 1-0 lead.

But the Blizzard answered with a scoring flurry, netting three goals in the next two minutes to take a 3-1 lead.

A goal by Michael Piehler cut the Blizzard lead to 3-2 by the end of the second period, but Alexandria scored two unanswered goals in the final period to run away with the game.

The loss drops the Lumberjacks to 6-2 on the season. Granite City will host the Minnesota Flying Aces next Friday.
