Carol Howe-Veenstra, who has served as the College of St. Benedict's Athletic Director for the past 28 years, announced that she will be retiring in July of 2015.

Howe-Veenstra began her career in Blazer athletics in 1985 as the head volleyball coach, a position she held until 1999. She led CSB to the school's first ever MIAC championship in 1987, and was elected into the CSB Hall of Fame for the achievement.

Howe-Veenstra was named MIAC Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1997, and was named as the Central Region Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1990. She accumulated a record of 366-150 (.709) in her career with a remarkable 176-36 record in the MIAC.

She previously held the same position at Tech High School, where she led the Tigers to seven regional finals and four state tournament appearances. In 1998, Howe-Veenstra was elected into the Tech High School Hall of Fame.

In her 28 years as athletic director Howe-Veenstra accumulated many honors including the 2011 Neil Jackson Administrator of the Year award.
