The Twins rallied late in their game with the Dodgers Wednesday but fell a bit short in a 6-4 loss at Target Field Wednesday.

Minnesota starter Kyle Gibson was hit hard for a second straight game, allowing five runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings pitched. Gibson’s ERA now stands at 4.34 after his 3-0, 0.93 start to the season.

Zack Greinke improved to 5-0 for Los Angeles by throwing six innings of one run, seven hit ball with six strikeouts and one walk.

The Twins made things interesting in the ninth, which they entered trailing 6-1. Sam Fuld doubled with one out to start the rally and was driven in by an Eduardo Escobar single to make it a 6-3 game. Brian Dozier followed with a single to advance Escobar to second base, but Joe Mauer struck out for the second out of the inning.

The Dodgers brought in closer Kenley Janssen to snuff out the rally, but Trevor Plouffe doubled to left field, driving in Escobar and Dozier. However, Chris Colabello grounded out to shortstop to end the game.

The Twins and Dodgers will play a split doubleheader at Target Field on Thursday, with game one scheduled for 12:10 and game two set for 6:10. Both games can be heard on WJON with the pregame show beginning 30 minutes before first pitch.
