The Minnesota Wild put themselves in a tough spot after Wednesday's loss to the Islanders. A three game losing streak at this point of the season could have spoiled their playoff chances.

In steps Jose Theodore, who stopped 40 of 41 shots he faced in the Wilds 3-1 victory over the Rangers. Theodore was magnificent between the pipes, and made one great save after another in the final two periods of the game.

In a must win game for Minnesota, the offense came through as well.

Casey Wellman, who was just called up from AHL affiliate Houston earlier in the day, scored the game-winning game in the second period.

The team had much more energy than they did against the Islanders and the victory put them right back in the playoff chase.

The Wild currently have 74 points, one back of the 8th playoff spot. With Theodore's performance last night, perhaps we will see a change in net in the near future? Either way it's good to have two goalies that can be game-changers on a nightly basis.

Minnesota's next game is Sunday night against Buffalo.
