COLORADO SPRINGS - The #4 ranked SCSU men's hockey team used an offensive barrage to defeat Colorado College 7-4 on Friday night.

The win keeps the Huskies in a first place tie in the NCHC with the University of North Dakota. Both teams have 45 league points. UND also picked up a win after defeating Western Michigan at home on Friday night.

The Tigers picked up an early lead in the first period with a goal from Cody Bradley. The Huskies would respond less than a minute later with a goal from Joey Benik to tie the game 1-1.

In the second period, Jonny Brodzinski scored twice to give SCSU a 3-1 lead. Senior defenseman Kevin Gravel added another goal to make it 4-1.

Colorado College would rally back, scoring three unanswered goals to tie it 4-4. SCSU would take a 5-4 lead at the end of the period with a power play goal from Benik.

The Huskies would pad their lead in the third, Jimmy Murray scored to make it 6-4. Brodzinski would earn his first career hat trick with a power play goal later in the third, making it 7-4.

The Huskies are now 20-8-5 overall and 14-6-3-0 in the NCHC after the contest. SCSU will wrap up its regular season with game two of the series against Colorado College at 8:07 p.m. on Saturday.
