ST. CLOUD -- The #7 St. Cloud State Huskies upset the #1 Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in a 4-1 win on Halloween night.

The Huskies got off to a fast start and held a 3-0 lead in the second period.

SCSU got goals from forwards Kalle KossilaDavid Morley, and Joey Benik.

The Gophers finally cracked the scoreboard around the four-minute mark in the final period with a goal from Hudson Fasching but the game had effectively already been decided.

The goal by Fasching was the only shot that got past SCSU goalie Charlie Lindgren, who saved 31.

Huskies junior forward Jonny Brodzinski added a cherry-on-top goal to regain a three-goal lead.

Brodzinski also had two assists on the night to lead the Huskies in points.

With the win, SCSU improves to 3-2 while handing the Gophers their first loss of the season.

The teams will play again today at 4:00 p.m. at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.
