Here are the results from Saturday's high school football games:

#2 Thief River Falls 44, #6 Rocori, 16-
The Rocori Spartans were ousted in the Section 8AAAA semifinals against the Thief River Falls Prowlers Saturday in Thief River Falls. The Spartans finish the season at 2-7. The Prowlers advance to play either Detroit Lakes or Albany on November 2nd.

The Prowlers scored on their first possession of the game after a Taiwan Brown 39 yard run. The Prowlers were successful on their 2 point conversion attempt to take an 8-0 lead. The Spartans answered on their first drive, with a 35 yard touchdown reception from Mason Ruegemer. The Spartans evened the score at 8-8 with 7:29 left in the first quarter thanks to a successful 2 point conversion of their own. The Prowlers added another score with 1:44 left in the first quarter after an Ian Lund 1 yard touchdown run and successful 2 point conversion. The first quarter ended with Thief River Falls leading 16-8

In the second quarter the Prowlers got on the board quickly after a 65 yard touchdown pass from Zeb Nelson to Turner Storm. The 2 point conversion was unsuccessful and the Prowlers led 22-8 with 10:03 left in the second quarter. After a bad snap deep in Rocori territory, the Prowlers added 2 more points on a safety after the Rocori snap went out of the back of the endzone. With 7:10 left in the half Ian Lund got his second touchdown of the game from 7 yards out to give Thief River Falls a 30-8 lead. The half ended with the Prowlers up 30-8 having only attempted 1 pass.

In the third quarter Zeb Nelson added a 4 yard touchdown run of his own. The extra point made it 37-8 with 4:30 left in the third quarter. The Spartans were able to get into the Thief River Falls endzone just before the end of the third quarter but they were not able to get the touchdown.

In the fourth quarter the Prowlers added another touchdown on an Alex Crandal interception return, one of five interceptions for Spartans Quarterback Skippy Virchow. The Spartans added a 12 yard touchdown run with 1:40 left in the game to pull to within 28 at 44-16. Rocori was unable to close the deficit further.

 

 #3 Sartell 32, #2 St. Cloud Tech 19-
The Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres held on for an upset win over the St. Cloud Tech Tigers Saturday from Clemens Stadium in St. Johns. The Sabres will advance to play the #4 seeded Moorhead Spuds, who upset the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles earlier Saturday.

The Sabres got on the board first after a 5 yard touchdown reception by Alex Haima. The extra point attempt was blocked but the Sabres still led 6-0 with 6:38 left in the first quarter. The Tigers answered on their first possession with a two yard touchdown run by Austin Klaverkamp. The Tigers also missed their extra point attempt to tie the score at 6 with 2:30 left in the first quarter. The first quarter would end with that same score at 6-6.

The Sabres scored first in the second quarter with a one yard run from backup quarterback Grant Lahn. After the extra point was missed the score was in favor of Sartell 12-6 with 10:13 left in the first half. On the next possession the Sabres recovered a Tech fumble and converted it into a 20 yard touchdown from Brandon Snoberger to Jackson Miller. The extra point made the score Sartell 19 Tech 6. The score at the half would find the Sabres up by the same score at 19-6.

The Tigers answered with a Phil Amundson 11 yard touchdown reception and extra point to pull within 6 at 19-13 with 6:48 left in the third quarter. The Sabres scored the next 13 points, after an Alex Haima 39 yard touchdown reception and a Darek Stachowski 18 yard touchdown run to take a 32-13 lead. With time running out in the third quarter the Tigers scored once more thanks to a Josh Schaefer 19 yard touchdown run and missed extra point. After three quarters the Sabres led 32-19.

There were no scores in the fourth quarter as the Sabres ran out the clock to seal the victory. Below are audio highlights from the game:
