Gophers’ Mbakwe Granted Medical Reshirt

Gopher forward Trevor Mbakwe was granted a medical redshirt and 6th year of college eligibility by the NCAA Thursday.  The 6'8 240 senior tore the ACL in his left knee on November 27 in the Old Sprice Classic in a loss against Dayton.  Mbakwe played just 7 games this season and averaged 14 points and 9.1 rebounds a game.

Mbakwe will be 23 during next season if he elects to remain in school as opposed to entering the NBA draft.  Mbakwe has until April 29 to declare for the NBA draft.
