The Minnesota Gophers took a 16 point lead halfway through the first half but could not hang on in a blowout loss at Iowa Sunday.

Minnesota stormed out to a 21-5 lead with about eleven minutes on the clock in the first half, but were blown out by Iowa in the second half in a 72-51 drubbing at Carver Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes (17-9, 6-7) outscored the Gophers (18-8, 6-7) 38-22 in the second half to complete the comeback–and then some.

Minnesota committed 17 turnovers, shot just 36% from the floor and made only 60% of their free throws. Iowa had 12 turnovers but shot 49% from the floor and 80% from the charity stripe.

The Gophers are at Ohio State Wednesday night.
