MINNEAPOLIS - The Gopher women's volleyball team won a pair of matches over the weekend to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division I volleyball tournament.

The University of Minnesota volleyball team defeated North Dakota in three sets Friday night, 25-21, 25-12, 25-20, in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Minnesota improves to 26-4 on the season, and remain undefeated at the Sports Pavilion.

In front of a crowd of 5,442, the University of Minnesota volleyball team swept Hawaii on Saturday night, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19, to advance to the NCAA Regionals.

Minnesota is set to host Missouri, North Carolina and UCLA next weekend at the Sports Pavilion. The Golden Gophers will play at 7:15 p.m. on Friday as they take on Missouri. Following Minnesota's match will be North Carolina against UCLA, at 9:45 p.m. Winners of both matches advance to the Regional Final, set at 9 p.m. Saturday night.
