The Gopher men's basketball team defeated South Dakota State 71-55 Monday night to improve to 2-0.  Minnesota trailed by 3 early in the 2nd half before overpowering the Jackrabbits.  Trevor Mbakwe led the Gophers with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Ralph Sampson III had 10 points and Chip Armelin added 9 points for Minnesota.

St. Cloud Tech graduate Nate Wolters led South Dakota State with 20 points and 6 assists.  Minnesota shot 57 percent from the field while SDSU shot 36 percent.  The Gophers will host Fairfield Thursday night at 6pm.
