The Angels beat the Twins 8-6 in Anaheim Thursday night.  Minnesota starter Kyle Gibson took the loss after being roughed up for seven runs in only two innings of work.

Gibson allowed the runs on four hits and two walks. The Angels scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead, but the Twins scored five runs of their own in the top of the second to tie the game.

Josh Willingham and Kendrys Morales hit back-to-back home runs to highlight the Twins’ rally, with Brian Dozier knocking in the tying run with a two-out single.

However, Gibson allowed a two-run home run in the bottom of the second to Angels star Mike Trout to give the Angels a 7-5 lead they would not relinquish.

Minnesota is now 36-39 on the season and will meet the Angels again Wednesday night. Yohan Pino will start for the Twins opposite Los Angeles’ Garrett Richards.  First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 on WJON.
