Kyle Gibson earned the win in his Major League Debut in a 6-2 Twins victory over Kansas City Saturday. Gibson struck out five batters and walked none while allowing eight hits.

Minnesota spotted their rookie starter a big lead in the bottom of the first inning, putting up five runs off of Royals starter Wade Davis. The Twins chased Davis after one inning in which he allowed five runs on five hits and five walks.

Justin Morneau started the scoring with a two-RBI double to centerfield for a 2-0 Twins lead in the first, followed by a Trevor Plouffe home run for a 4-0 lead. Pedro Florimon added an RBI single and Plouffe a sacrifice fly to cap the first inning scoring.

The Twins will finish their series with the Royals Sunday afternoon at Target Field.
