MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins have wanted their starting pitching to go deep into a ball game and they got just that from Kyle Gibson last night (Friday).

Gibson threw eight scoreless innings getting the best of his counterpart Jose Quintana (Chicago) allowing four hits, a walk and four strikeouts.

The Twins pitcher got himself into a bases-loaded jam in the second but a inning-ending double kept the shutout in play.

Kennys Vargas scored the teams only run in the fifth inning after tagging up from second on a sacrifice fly by Brian Dozier, and scoring on a wild pitch.

Closer Glen Perkins came into the ninth inning and recorded his seventh save of the season and handed the White Sox their third straight loss.

The Twins improve to 11-12 on the season, and will take on the White Sox again this afternoon (Saturday) starting at 12:10 p.m.
