The Twins made a pair of roster moves early on Thursday's trade deadline-day, trading outfielder Sam Fuld to the Oakland Athletics for lefthander Tommy Milone and calling up slugger Kennys Vargas from Class AA New Britain.

Fuld was acquired from the Athletics off of the waiver wire earlier this season. Milone is known as a soft-tossing lefthander who was 6-3 this season with a 3.86 ERA.

Milone has won his last six decisions at the Major League level, with the A's winning in eight of his last nine starts. He will begin his Twins career at the AAA level.

Vargas, who stands at 6'6" and draws frequent comparisons to Red Sox slugger and former Twin David Ortiz, hit .286 in New Britain with a team-high 17 home runs and 63 RBI.
