Former St. John's University hockey coach and 1980 United States hockey player John Harrington joined the Granite City Cafe on Thursday to talk Olympic hockey.

Harrington played at UMD as a walk-on and was invited to try out for the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic team, which he eventually made. The team famously went on to beat Russia in a semifinal game before securing the gold medal.

Harrington is currently a scout for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League. In the interview he discusses his playing experience, reminisces about coaching the Johnnies and chooses a few teams that he thinks have a good chance to win the gold in Sochi.
