The San Antonio Spurs might have the best record in the NBA right now, but what does that ultimately mean?

Probably, just that their fans will get to see the Lakers bounce them from the playoffs on their home floor, that's about it.  The Spurs have a very healthy fear of the world champs, and for good reason.  They know they can't beat them in a 7 game series.

But then again, I don't believe any team can.  The Lakers have shown recently, that they are quickly shaking off the early season blues of November and December, and rounding nicely back into championship form.

There is an old saying in sports that sometimes "the best trades are the ones that you DON'T make".  That is, once again, proving to be the case for the Lakers.  There has been a lot of speculation that the Lakers were going to make a blockbuster trade to shake things up.  Not necessary.

Right now, the; Spurs, Mavericks, Celtics, Bulls, and Heat all have better records than the Lakers.  But would you bet on ANY of those squads to beat L.A. in a 7 game series?  Not if you're smart.

The fact remains that despite any off season free agent movement, and no matter what trades have been made, the best threesome in the game is Kobe Bryant, Pao Gasol, and Lamar Odom.

Oh yeah, and Coach Jackson knows a thing or two about winning championships, as well.

No matter what seed they finish the regular season as, the Lakers are, once again, a LOCK to reach the NBA Finals.  I guarantee it.
