The Twins held a lead until the sixth inning when a familiar face blasted a three-run home run off starter Mike Pelfrey.

The Tigers topped the Twins 4-3 in the opening game of a three game series at Detroit Monday night. Minnesota falls to 11-11 on the season with the loss.

Josh Willingham's solo blast in the top of the first inning gave the Twins a 1-0 lead, and an Aaron Hicks RBI groundout in the second made the score 2-0.

The Tigers answered back when Andy Dirks hit a solo home run off of Pelfrey to make the score 2-1 heading into the top of the fourth.

The Twins regained a two-run lead in the fourth when an Oswaldo Arcia double plated Chris Parmelee for a 3-1 edge.

After five strong innings Pelfrey faltered in the sixth. Dirks led off the inning with a perfect bunt single down the third base line, then advanced to second when Miguel Cabrera took an 3-2 pitch inside for a walk.

Fielder followed with his big blast to deep center field for a 4-3 lead the Twins could not come back from.
