The Twins topped the Royals 6-2 Monday night at Kauffman Stadium in the opening game of a three game series. Minnesota remains 1.5 games behind the Rangers in the American League Wild Card standings.

Eduardo Escobar was 3-3 with three runs batted in and a walk, and Aaron Hicks staked the Twins to a 1-0 lead early with a leadoff home run in the first inning.

The Twins are in Kansas City again Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. on WJON, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30.
