N.Y. Giants 26 — San Francisco 3 The Giants intercepted 49ers' quarterback Alex Smith three times, as New York dominated San Francisco, 26-3, in San Francisco on Sunday. Antrel Rolle picked off two passes and Prince Amukamara snagged a third for the Giants (4-2) in a rematch of teams that played in last season's NFC title game. San Francisco (4-2) was unable to generate any points after David Akers' first quarter field goal.

#9 Louisiana State 23, #3 South Carolina 21 After rushing for just 71 total yards in the Tigers’ six previous games, freshman running back Jeremy Hill exploded for 124 yards and two touchdowns to lead LSU to its first home conference win of the year. South Carolina actually led 14-10 with less than 11 minutes to play in the game before LSU rattled off 13 unanswered points in the game's next six minutes.

New York Yankees' shortstop Derek Jeter was helped off the field after fracturing his left ankle in the top of 12th inning of his team's 6-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers in Saturday's Game 1 of the American League Championship Series at Yankee Stadium.

The New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals each won the fifth and deciding games of their respective division series on Friday to advance to the championship series round of Major League Baseball's 2012 postseason. Here's a recap of all of Friday's MLB action:

The World Series is a best-of-seven matchup, as is the League Championship Series. So why not the divisional round?This postseason is the first where all four Division Series have gone the maximum five games. Detroit and San Francisco have advanced to the LCS; the Yankees and Orioles face off this afternoon, with the Cardinals and Nationals to follow.

ALDS Game 5: Detroit 6 — Oakland 0 Justin Verlander struck out 11 while pitching a complete-game shutout, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Oakland A's, 6-0, to win their American League Division Series, 3 games to 2. The Tigers were just three outs away from winning the series in Game 4 on Wednesday, but the A's rallied to force Game 5.

Rob Bironas kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired, and the Tennessee Titans beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-23, on Thursday night in Nashville.Bironas' kick, his fourth field goal of the game, came after Steelers' kicker Shaun Suisham had a 54-yard attempt fall short with 49 seconds remaining.

While there aren't as many marquee games as last week, we have several intriguing matchups to look forward to this weekend. Saturday features four games between ranked opponents, including one top 10 game in the SEC. Additionally, 14 of the 22 ranked teams in action this weekend are playing road or neutral-site games. So this could be another weekend to be on upset alert.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans — 8:20 P.M. EST LP Field, Nashville Pittsburgh (2-2) sends the league's fifth-ranked defense to face a Titans' team which will once again start Matt Hasselbeck in place of injured Jake Locker at quarterback. Tennessee (1-4) has committed 10 turnovers so far this season. The Steelers' running game was much improved with the return of Rashard Mendenhall. Pittsburgh could put up big numbers against a Titans' defense that has allowed a league-high 181 points.

Former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being sentenced Tuesday to 30 to 60 years in prison for his role in the Penn State sex-abuse case. Sandusky was convicted in June on 45 counts of child sex abuse for molesting and raping 10 boys over a 15-year period, with some of the attacks taking place inside Penn State athletic facilities.
