The Gopher women's basketball team defeated Maine 77-60 Sunday to win the Subway Classic at Williams Arena. Rachel Banham and Micaella Riche each scored 16 points and Mikayla Bailey added 12 points. Banham had 7 assists for the Gophers.

Gopher Men’s Basketball Routs Tennessee State

The Gopher men's basketball team defeated Tennessee State 72-43 Thursday night to improve to 3-0. Rodney Williams led the Gophers with 15 points and 7 rebounds, Andre Hollins added 13 points and 5 assists and Austin Hollins chipped in 12 points. Minnesota shot 48 percent from the field while Tennessee State shot 24 percent.

Johnnies/Huskies Basketball Preview [AUDIO]

The St. John's and St. Cloud State basketball programs open the regular season by playing head to head Friday night in Collegeville at 7pm. St. John's is led by Seth Marx but is trying to replace their top 2 scorers from last season Aaron Barmore and Andy Burns. Marx is the top returning scorer averaging 8.9 points a game. St. Cloud State is led by point guard Shaun Jensen and center James Fort.

SCSU Basketball Signs 2 Players

The St. Cloud State men's basketball team signed two players to National Letters of intent Thursday. The two players are 6'3 wing Scottie Stone from Melrose and 6'9 post player Payton Plagge of Sheffield, Iowa. Stone averaged 26 points a game and shot 40 percent from 3-point range as a junior at Melrose. In 3 varsity seasons Plagge has scored 956 points and has averaged 13 points a game. He's also shot 62 percent from the field.

Gopher Men’s Basketball Signs Two Players From Chicago

The Gopher men's basketball team signed 2 players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. The two players were teammates at Chicago's De La Salle High School. Alvin Ellis is a 6'4 combo guard who averaged 17 points and 4 rebounds a game as a junior and Alex Foster is a 6'8 forward who averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds as a juinor.

SCSU Women’s Basketball Wins at Valley City State

The St. Cloud State women's basketball team won 70-45 at Valley City State Wednesday night to begin the 2012-2013 season. SCSU led by 5 at halftime and outscored Valley City State 38-18 in the 2nd half. Jessica Benson led the Huskies with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, Rachel Moen added 13 points and Sam Price chipped in 10 points or SCSU.

St. Cloud’s Wolters Leads SDSU to Win Over Tennessee State

St. Cloud Tech graduate Nate Wolters scored 22 points in South Dakota State's 78-71 home win in Brookings over Tennessee State. Jordan Dykstra made 4 3-point shots to help the Jackrabbits. Wolters was 6-11 from the field. Wolters led Tech to back to back 3rd place finishes in Class 4A boys basketball.

The Gopher men's basketball team routed Toledo 82-56 Monday night to improve to 2-0. Joe Coleman led the Gophers with 15 points, Austin Hollins added 14 points and Rodney Williams added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Trevor Mbakwe added 6 points and 7 rebounds off the bench in 14 minutes.

The Gopher men's basketball team downed American University of Washington D.C. 72-36 Friday night at Williams Arena. Minnesota led 44-14 at halftime and cruised in the 2nd half. The Gophers were led by Austin Hollins with 20 points and Rodney Williams added 16.
