Johnnie Baseball Sweeps St. Olaf

The St. John's Baseball team won a pair of games against St. Olaf Tuesday afternoon 3-1 and 4-0. Luke Larson hit a solo homerun and Hayden Zimmerman threw all 7 innings with 3 hits and 0 earned runs allowed to get the win. Max Forster, Billy Gregg, and Aaron Plaff had 1 hit and 1 RBI and Connor Cline threw 6 shutout innings for the Johnnies. St. John's is 22-10 overall and 10-4 in the MIAC.

University of Minnesota Hires Norwood Teague As A.D.

The University of Minnesota introduced Norwood Teague as their new Athletic Director at a press conference Monday afternoon. Teague has spent the last 6 years as the Athletic Director at Virginia Commonwealth. Teague will make a base salary of $400,000 which is on the low end of Big Ten Athletic Directors. He replaces the retiring Joel Maturi and will start July 1.

The St. Cloud State baseball team completed a sweep of Concordia-St. Paul Sunday. SCSU won game 1 8-4 by scoring 5 runs in the 6th inning to surge ahead. Joey Althoff had a 2-run single for the Huskies in the 6th inning. St. Cloud State won 6-5 in extra innings in game 2. Joey Benke went 3-4 with a run scored in game 2 for SCSU. St. Cloud State had 13 hits in game 2.

St. Cloud Rox Sign 8 Including Henkemeyer

The St. Cloud Rox signed 8 more players to play for the team this summer. Among the 8 is outfielder Andy Henkemeyer from Sauk Rapids. Henkemeyer is playing his college baseball for the Gophers. He was the Most Valuable River Bat last season in St. Cloud. He is joined by outfielder Boo Vasquez from the University of Pittsburg, catcher Adam Martin from Western Carolina, outfielder Jamie Simpson from Eastern Michigan and pitchers Paul Schaak of Eastern Michigan, Alex Roberts of Newberry College, Sergio Luna of Cal-State L.A. and Adam Maxon of Jacksonville University.
