In an all-too-familiar scene, the Twins bullpen blew a late lead in an 8-7, ten inning loss to the Yankees in New York. The loss drops the Twins to 59-59 on the season.

Brian McCann smashed a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Yankees the lead.

However, Miguel Sano hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning to tie the game at three, followed by an Eddie Rosario RBI single that gave Minnesota a 4-3 lead.

McCann struck again with a two-run single that gave the lead back to New York in the bottom of the third.

The Twins again responded with an Aaron Hicks home run in the fourth to tie the game, then Trevor Plouffe hit a solo shot in the top of the fifth to give the Twins a 6-5 lead. Plouffe would add another RBI on a single in the sixth for a 7-5 advantage.

Brian Duensing came in to pitch the bottom of the sixth and promptly served up a two-run home run to Carlos Beltran that tied the game at seven. Glen Perkins loaded the bases without retiring a batter in the tenth before Chase Headley grounded to short to score the winning run.

The Twins are in New York again on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PM on WJON, with pregame coverage beginning at 5:30.
