The Twins Winter Caravan stopped in St. Cloud Wednesday night at Rivers Edge Convention Center. The St. John’s football team began their season with a 34-0 shutout win over Northwestern College Saturday afternoon in Collegeville. St. John’s led 27-0 at halftime. Stephen Johnson ran for 114 yards and a touchdown and Nick Schneider ran for 34 yards and a touchdown for the Johnnies. Connor Bruns threw for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns for St. John’s. John Ries was 6-10 passing for 43 yards for St. John’s.
The Gopher football team under new head coach Jerry Kill lost a tight game 19-17 at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles Saturday. Minnesota trailed 19-3 at halftime but outscored the Trojans 14-0 in the 2nd half.
